Danny Way is my favorite vert and Mega-Ramp skater. I like him because he has a really good style and is also one of the best ver/Mega-Ramp skaters in the world. Danny Way has won the X-Games 2 times in a row and is on a path to win more. He was the first person to ever win the Thrasher Skater of the Year twice in a row. He also has had 7 knee surgeries and had his ACL replaced 3 times. He also has a Mega Ramp in his backyard and has jumped over the Great Wall of China.

Shanghai Skatepark is the worlds largest skatepark. It is 147,466 sq. ft. Thats almost the size of 2.5  soccer fields, 10.9 olympic swimming pools and 52.5 tennis courts put together! Features of the park include the Mondo Bowl that has a 20m long full pipe and a 50m wide vert ramp. In the main skate park space there is over 7,400 sq/m of bowl and park features with an additional 2,000 sq/m of competition area. To the sides of the skatepark, over 4,000 sq/m of  granite pavement provides seating, access ways, shaded viewing zones and a good view of street skating. The construction management team members flew over from Australia during the building of the park and worked with the local park builders to provide the park with high quality and standards. The park opened in October 2005 and a contest was created called the Shanghai Showdown competition which is held each year and attracts some of the best professional skaters, inline and BMXers from all around the world. Parts of the skatepark are dedicated to skateboarders who have been to the skatepark and are either are pros or have been pros and have past away.

Go Skateboarding Day

Posted: March 27, 2012 in Uncategorized

Go Skateboarding Day is for anyone to get together and go skateboard. Go skateboarding dy is on June 21. It is on June 21 because that day happens to be the first day of summer. You dont have to be a certain kind of skateboarder, street, park or longboard, anyone can go skateboarding. There is a big website were people post events and partys that they hold on Go Skateboarding Day. Here is the URL for the website, you should check it out. www.goskateboardingday.orgWhen people a lot of people go Skateboarding things can get out of hand, there are a few people in this world who hate skateboarders and those people are the cops. Here is a cop beating down some kids who just wanted to have fun: http:

The holiday began as an excuse for skateboarders to make skateboarding their top priority instead of working. Skateboarders hold fundraisers, contests, protests and demos to show their love and support for skateboarding. Go Skateboarding Day is an event that takes place all around the world. Companies and retailers celebrate from all around the world. You would be supprised to see how many skaters there are outside of are country.

As most people know the X-Games is a big competition where pros and amatuers compete in many sports. There are three diffrent competitions for skateboarding, Skateboard Vert, Skateboard Park, Skateboard Street, Skateboard Big Air and Skateboard Best Trick. I think that the big air is my favorite, Big Air is my favorite because I have always wanted to try it when I get older and I think that it is the hardest out of all the competitions. I think it is the hardest because you have to go down a ramp that is 100ft high and about 75% steep. Also you have to go off a 10 foot tall jump and gap 70ft to a landing. That is very hard! To get into the X-Games you have to be invited. This means only the really good people can go. Here is a list of some of last years competitors for skateboarding,

Andy Mack

Danny Way

Mitchie Brusko

Shaun White

Tony Hawk

Jake Brown

   Adam Taylor

 Edgard Pereira

Bucky Lasek

Pierre- Luc Gagnon

Bob Bernquist

and there are many more. The youngest competitor is Mitchie Brusko, he is 14 years old and has landed a 900, a 900 is when you turn 2 and a half full spins. The reason they call it a 900 is because you turn 900 degrees. Only 4 people have landed the 900 and its crazy that he is one of them. Here is a video of him landing a 900.   Here is and interview and a quick clip of his skating. Last X-Games bob Burnquist won the Big Air with a 92.66 on his fourth run and a 92.33 on his second run. His winning run featured a switch frontside 540 over the gap and a unique, Lien Air-to-Frontside grab 540 on the quarterpipe. Here is a video of his winning run.

In the X-Games Big Air you get four runs on the course. The juges take your highest score and if you have the highest score out of all the competitors then you will win. All the other scores go down until the person in last place. When you win, you get a big trophie and $50,00. Now thats a lot of money!  The summer X-Games is usually in Los Angelas, CA so we probably wont be able to go there :( . But it is on T.T. so you can watch it there. :) . Most people dont do it for the money, they think that its all about the fun, meeting your friends, new friends and doing what they love most……Skateboarding!

Here is a a clip of the last X-Games Skateboarding Big Air (X-Games 17)
